Heroes for Hire
SHOWING THE STORY: TEASING VIEWERS INTO BECOMING READERS
John Kincheloe’s “Heroes for Hire” is a humorous, autobiographical story of the author’s youthful experiences during the summer of 1969: learning to work on a dairy farm and attending the now famous concert at Woodstock.
In addition to many photos, a particular fun feature of the book are the author’s many amusing footnotes. Rather than placing them all in the back of the book, they are woven into the bottom of the page where the footnote is cited, so readers can enjoy the text immediately and easily.
Book design goals were to capture the story’s humor, time and place while also peaking curiosity enough to inspire viewers to become purchasers.
